M5 Motorway Westbound Traffic Upgrade
Independent Verification – Health and Safety in Design
The M5 Motorway Westbound Traffic Upgrade project aims to eliminate the issue of westbound vehicles entering the M5 Motorway at Moorebank Avenue by weaving between vehicles exiting to the Hume Highway. This is expected to remove a source of congestion and increase traffic flow efficiency, reduce road incidents and hence improve safety.Additional potential benefits from this project include:
Construction of new bridges able to support noise walls would also address the issue of noise from the M5 at Georges River, which remains a significant source of concern for the local community. The existing bridges cannot support additional loading; and
Providing a complement to adjoining projects, allowing road users to realise the full benefit from a network of upgrade projects in the vicinity
